Travelling North Cyprus

If you decide to have your holiday in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), you can reach it either by air or by sea. You can arrive by air to North Cyprus or South Cyprus Airports. Below, you will find useful information on ways to travel to  North Cyprus.


Northern Cyprus by air
There are two ways you can fly to North Cyprus via Turkey to Ercan International Airport or to Larnaca International Airport situated in the South part of the Cyprus Island.

There are two main airlines in North Cyprus which arrive to Ercan Airport; Pegasus and Turkish Airlines. They provide an important international network to North Cyprus from all over Europe. As North Cyprus is not recognized as an independent state, all the airplanes flying to North Cyprus must first land in Turkey and then continue their flight to Ercan International Airport.

Northern Cyprus by Sea
You can travel to North Cyprus via a ferryboat from Turkey.  Ferryboats travel from Girne (Kyrenia) and GaziMagusa (Famagusta) to Mersin, Alanya, and Tasucu which are ports on Turkey's south coast.  There are three routes in which sea buses and car ferries operate together: Girne-Alanya, Girne-Tasucu and Gazimagusa-Mersin. The passenger ferries run much faster than the car ferries and the fast ferry journey takes approximately 2 hours. 

Duty Free Allowances
Passengers have a duty free allowance of up to 400 cigarettes per adult, or 500 gram of tobacco or 50 cigars, 1 litre of spirits or 1 litre of wine, up to 100cl and perfume. It is strictly prohibited to export antiques or archaeological materials. 

Passports and Visas
When you arrive to North Cyprus a valid passport is necessary and a visa is granted on entrance. All passports are accepted on entry to and exit from the Island provided that they confirm dates of arrival and departure.
