The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is located in the
eastern side of Mediterranean on an area of 3.355 square miles. The
island is 70 kilometers away from Turkey and 385 kilometers away
from Egypt. Northern Cyprus has a climate
which can be characterized with its long, hot summers and short,
mild winters.
The most popular city in Northern Cyprus
is Kyrenia which is known for its
luxury hotels-casinos and clean-sandy beaches. Kyrenia also has
many historical places to visit, such as Antiphonitis
Monastery, Bellapais Abbey and St.
Hillarion Castle.
The capital city Nicosia, which has a population of 35,000, is the
political and business district of the country. The city provides

universities and an international airport. The church of St.

a visit in Nicosia.

Famagusta is one of the oldest cities in
Cyprus and is situated on the northern east coast of the
island. Famagusta has lots of world class resort hotel and
casinos for accommodation, and offers many ancient buildings such
as Othello Tower, Salamis Ruins and St. Nicolas Cathedral to
visit.
The other important city
is Güzelyurt which means "beautiful
city" in English. This city is known for its large fruit
gardens and is called the water store of the island because of its
high water capacity. St. Mamas Monastery and Church and Vouni
Palace are the historical places which must be seen in
Güzelyurt.
